Banyan Tree Krabi clinches sustainability and culinary awards at Hotel Expo Krabi Go Green 2026

Banyan Tree Krabi enhances its reputation by winning top accolades at the Hotel Expo Krabi Go Green 2026, highlighting its commitment to eco-friendly practices and local culinary excellence amidst Thailand’s drive for greener tourism.

Banyan Tree Krabi has added another accolade to its growing reputation in southern Thailand, after winning first place in the barista mixology category and second place in the culinary competition at the Hotel Expo Krabi Go Green 2026 challenge on 24 July. The hotel said the result reflects its focus on sustainability as well as its food-and-drink offering, which is designed to appeal to guests who want a resort stay with a stronger local identity.

The standout drink came from Dawadee Songprasert, known as Khun Dao, who works at the beachfront Kredkaew Bar. Her "Soil to Soul" mocktail used locally grown coffee, seasonal fruit, roselle, mangosteen, honey and coconut oil, with the hotel saying it followed a zero-waste approach by reusing coffee grounds and mango peels in a cordial. For travellers, that suggests a bar menu that leans towards inventive, locally rooted drinks rather than standard resort fare.

The kitchen team also earned recognition for Chargrilled Prawns with Tom Yum Emulsion, a dish that points to the kind of southern Thai flavours visitors can expect from the property’s dining. The expo itself, organised with the Krabi provincial authorities, was part of a wider push to position Krabi as a green destination through seminars, business matching and competitions focused on quality tourism and environmental conservation.

Set on the Andaman coast and built into a hillside beside a national park, Banyan Tree Krabi has 72 pool suites and villas, including larger family and group options, plus two restaurants, a beach bar, a spa with a Rainforest hydrotherapy area, a kids’ club and a fitness centre. The resort says it has also collected broader sustainability recognition, including Thailand’s Green Hotel Award – Gold Certification and a Thailand Tourism Sustainability Award in 2025. It was also awarded Two MICHELIN stars in 2024 and 2025, and Fodor’s Travel named it the only Thai hotel in its 2026 list of The 100 Most Incredible Hotels in the World.
