Riyadh Air launches direct flights to Bangkok, boosting Saudi-Thailand travel options

Riyadh Air begins direct services between Riyadh and Bangkok, offering shorter, more convenient flights to increase tourism and business connectivity between Saudi Arabia and Thailand from September.

Riyadh Air has started selling tickets for a new direct service between Riyadh and Bangkok, a route that should make travel to Thailand considerably simpler for passengers in Saudi Arabia and beyond. The flights are due to begin on 2 September, operating three times a week between King Khalid International Airport and Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport. According to the airline, the link is intended to improve access between the two countries while also supporting tourism and business travel.

For holidaymakers, the main attraction is convenience. A non-stop flight removes the need to change planes en route to Bangkok, which can shorten journey times and reduce the risk of missed connections. Booking sites tracking the route already show a range of fare options on competing services, suggesting travellers will be able to compare prices and timings as the new connection enters the market. Some current listings also point to direct flights of around seven hours and 35 minutes, underlining how much quicker a direct option can be than one with a stop.

The launch also gives travellers more flexibility when planning a Thailand trip. Bangkok remains the easiest gateway for many visitors heading on to beach resorts, island stays or domestic connections elsewhere in the country. A direct Riyadh service can make that first leg less cumbersome, particularly for families or those travelling with luggage. It may also strengthen Bangkok’s appeal as a stopover point for people combining Thailand with a wider Asian itinerary.

Riyadh Air said the Bangkok route is part of a broader international expansion, with more destinations expected to be announced soon. For travellers, that could mean additional choice and better onward connections out of Riyadh in the months ahead, making the Saudi capital a more useful transit point for long-haul leisure trips.
