SAS expands direct flights to Thailand with new routes to Phuket and Krabi for winter 2026/27

SAS is adding new nonstop flights from Copenhagen to Phuket and Krabi next winter, boosting capacity and connectivity for Scandinavian travellers seeking winter sun and island escapes, while expanding its long-haul offerings from Copenhagen.

SAS is set to give winter travellers more choice in Thailand next season, with new nonstop services from Copenhagen to Phuket and Krabi alongside extra capacity on its existing Copenhagen-Bangkok route. For holidaymakers from Scandinavia and beyond, the expansion should make it easier to reach both the country’s beach destinations and its capital without needing a connection.

According to the airline’s announcement, flights to Krabi are due to begin on 8 December 2026, followed by Phuket on 9 December 2026. Both routes are planned to run two or three times a week through late March 2027, using Airbus A350 aircraft. The same announcement said the move forms part of a wider winter push that also includes a return to Dubai and more long-haul flying from Copenhagen.

For travellers, the practical appeal is straightforward: direct access to southern Thailand’s resort areas, especially for winter sun breaks. Phuket remains one of Thailand’s easiest gateways for island-hopping and beach stays, while Krabi offers access to Ao Nang, Railay and nearby islands. SAS’s decision to add both routes from Copenhagen means passengers from the wider Nordic network will have more one-stop options through a single hub.

The airline also plans to lift capacity on its Copenhagen-Bangkok service by 15 per cent compared with last winter, with total Thailand capacity rising by more than 75 per cent. The extra flying comes as SAS continues building Copenhagen’s role as its main long-haul hub and as Thailand remains a favourite destination for Scandinavian winter travel.
