Thai Airways resumes Bangkok-Xiamen route in October 2026, reintroducing direct international link

Thai Airways will restart its Bangkok-Xiamen service from 25 October 2026, restoring a route suspended during the pandemic, offering travellers new regional connectivity and competitive options amid existing market competition.

Thai Airways is set to return to the Bangkok-Xiamen market on 25 October 2026, restoring a direct link that will matter most to holidaymakers heading for China’s Fujian coast and to travellers connecting through Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport. According to the airline’s announcement on Facebook and its booking pages, the service will run four times a week, with flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, and the winter schedule is already open for bookings through 27 March 2027.

For travellers, the most useful part is the timetable. Thai Airways says TG610 will leave Bangkok at 10.40 on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, reaching Xiamen at 15.05, while Sunday departures will leave at 12.35 and arrive at 17.00. The return flight, TG611, is timed to get passengers back to Bangkok in the evening, which should make same-day hotel check-ins and onward connections easier. The route is expected to take about three hours and 25 minutes.

The service also gives leisure travellers another non-stop option to a city known for its harbour setting and access to Gulangyu Island, one of the area’s best-known visitor spots. Thai Airways had last flown Bangkok-Xiamen before the pandemic, when the route was suspended in March 2020 as international travel shut down. The airline has since pared back and rebuilt parts of its network, and the return to Xiamen comes alongside the arrival of newer narrow-body aircraft, which are better suited to medium-haul regional routes.

For now, Thai Airways will face stiff competition. FlightsFrom.com shows Xiamen Airlines already operating multiple daily services on the route, while Thai’s own booking site is listing round-trip economy fares from THB10,030, making it easier for travellers to compare price, timing and convenience. Xiamen Airlines also offers onward domestic links through Bangkok Airways to Thai beach and island destinations such as Krabi, Samui, Phuket and Chiang Mai, so passengers planning a wider Thailand trip may want to weigh both the schedule and the connections before booking.
