Reuters-style coverage of the awards in Macau noted that the annual list spans 22 cities and remains a barometer of the region’s most talked-about drinking destinations, with Bangkok again proving one of its strongest cities. Bar Sathorn’s second straight appearance signals that it is no longer simply a hotel bar with a handsome address, but a destination in its own right.

The bar sits inside The House on Sathorn, a restored 19th-century mansion beside the modern W Bangkok tower, giving guests one of the city’s more dramatic contrasts between old and new. According to the hotel’s announcement, the building began life as a private residence in 1889 before later serving as a hotel and the Russian Embassy, and was revived in 2015 after a redesign by AvroKO. The bar itself was relaunched in 2023 with an eclectic look that leans into the property’s long history while showcasing work by young Thai artists.
