Banyan Tree Krabi triumphs at hotel expo with eco-friendly mixology and regional cuisine

Banyan Tree Krabi garners accolades for its commitment to sustainability, winning top honours in barista mixology and culinary categories at the Hotel Expo Krabi Go Green 2026, highlighting its innovative use of local ingredients and zero-waste practices amid Krabi's green tourism push.

Banyan Tree Krabi has added another set of accolades to its record, after its team won first place in barista mixology and finished second in the culinary category at the Hotel Expo Krabi Go Green 2026 challenge on 24 July. For travellers, the win underlines what the resort is trying to offer beyond a scenic stay: a strong sense of place, local ingredients and a clear environmental message.

The standout drink, called "Soil to Soul", was created by Dawadee Songprasert, known as Khun Dao, from the resort’s beachfront Kredkaew Bar. According to the hotel, the mocktail brought together locally grown coffee, seasonal fruit, roselle, mangosteen, honey and coconut oil, while also reusing coffee grounds and mango peels in line with a zero-waste approach. The resort’s kitchen team also impressed judges with Chargrilled Prawns with Tom Yum Emulsion, a dish built around southern Thai flavours and regional produce.

The contest took place as Krabi’s officials continue to promote the province as a greener tourism destination. Speaking before the event, the Deputy Governor of Krabi Province stressed the importance of developing higher-quality tourism while protecting natural resources, a goal that fits the region’s broader identity as one of Thailand’s most visually dramatic coastal escapes.

That setting remains a major draw for guests. Krabi is known for its limestone cliffs, hidden lagoons, caves and island beaches, and has recently appeared on the big screen in Jurassic World: Rebirth, following earlier attention from The Beach. Banyan Tree Krabi has leaned into that landscape with 72 pool suites and villas, all facing the sea and sunset, plus larger family and group options, a kids’ club, two restaurants, a beach bar, a fitness centre and a tropical spa with Rainforest hydrotherapy facilities. The resort has also collected wider recognition, including Green Hotel Award Gold certification from Thailand’s Department of Environmental Quality Promotion, a Thailand Tourism Sustainability Award in 2025, and Two Michelin stars in 2024 and 2025.
