Thai AirAsia launches free Silver Care service to ease senior travellers' airport experience

Thai AirAsia introduces a complimentary 'Silver Care' service for passengers aged 60 and above on domestic flights, offering priority check-in, baggage, and seating to enhance convenience during busy travel seasons.

Thai AirAsia has introduced a new "Silver Care" service for passengers aged 60 and above on domestic flights across Thailand, adding a small but useful layer of comfort for older travellers and one accompanying companion. The airline says the package is free of charge and is intended to make airport time and boarding less stressful for families heading away for a short break or a visit home.

The benefits are straightforward: priority check-in, priority baggage collection and a seat-together option, subject to availability. To use the service, eligible travellers need to show a valid ID at the check-in counter. For visitors planning internal hops between Thai cities, that could mean less queuing and a smoother start and finish to the journey.

At Don Mueang International Airport, the dedicated Silver Care point is Counter 10J in Domestic Terminal 2, where Thai AirAsia says senior passengers should look for signage and ground staff ready to help. Similar facilities are available at other domestic airports, according to AirAsia’s newsroom update, although the airline has not said the service changes the underlying flight experience beyond the added airport assistance.

Thai AirAsia head of commercial Tansita Akrarittipirom said the airline had trained ground and cabin staff specifically to support older passengers and their families, and that the launch is timed for the busy year-end travel period. For travellers visiting Thailand, the new offering may be most valuable on crowded domestic routes, where a little extra priority can save time and reduce hassle.
