Cathay Pacific offers new affordable route to Phuket via Hong Kong for 2026 and 2027

Cathay Pacific has launched a competitive round-trip fare from San Francisco to Phuket, routing through Hong Kong, with prices starting at $863. The deal, available for select travel windows into 2027, simplifies booking for travellers heading to Thailand’s popular island resort.

Cathay Pacific is offering a round-trip fare from San Francisco to Phuket starting at $863 including taxes, according to The Flight Deal. For travellers heading to Thailand for a beach break, that puts one of the country’s best-known resort islands within reach on a single booking, with the journey routed via Hong Kong rather than requiring a separate low-cost connection once in Asia.

The deal is being promoted for travel windows stretching into late October, then again from mid-January 2027 through early May 2027, with limited availability and a requirement to buy at least seven days before departure, The Flight Deal said. One sample itinerary shown on the site runs from October 21 to 28, although the publication stressed that this is only an example and that travellers should check broader date options before assuming the fare is still open.

For holidaymakers, the main advantage is convenience. Cathay Pacific’s own San Francisco-to-Phuket page says the airline sells direct bookings on the route starting from $863 round trip in economy, with flexible change options and the ability to earn Status Points or Miles when booking direct as a Cathay member. That can be useful for travellers planning a longer Thailand trip, since Phuket works well as either a standalone destination or the starting point for time on the southern islands.

The price is also notable when set against previous Cathay Pacific sales highlighted by The Flight Deal. The site reported a $725 fare in August 2025, an $810 fare in January 2025, a $763 fare in July 2024 and an $829 fare in December 2023. In other words, the new offer is not the lowest fare in the recent history of the route, but it still sits in a competitive band for a long-haul trip to southern Thailand.

The Flight Deal says the itinerary runs San Francisco-Hong Kong-Phuket and back again, with a baggage and stopover structure that may appeal to some travellers planning a wider Asia trip. For most leisure travellers, though, the real draw is simpler: an easier way to reach Phuket without having to stitch together multiple separate tickets, and a fare that could leave more of the budget for hotels, island excursions and meals once in Thailand.
